Veterans Day

Veterans Day

In America Veterans Day is an annual holiday honoring military veterans. Both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states, it is usually observed on November 11th. However, if it occurs on a Sunday then the following Monday is designated for holiday leave, and if it occurs Saturday then either Saturday or Friday may be so designated.Veterans Day is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world.

A Cup Of Tea

A Cup Of Tea

~unknown author

When the world is all at odds

And the mind is all at sea

Then cease the useless tedium

And brew a cup of tea.

There is magic in its’ fragrance,

There is solace in its’ taste;

And the laden moments vanish

Somehow into space.

And the world becomes a lovely thing !

There’s beauty as you’ll see;

All because you briefly stopped

To brew a cup of tea.

Cheese & Garlic Biscuit Recipe

Cheese & Garlic Biscuit Recipe

using baking mix

Cheese & Garlic Biscuits

2 1/2 cups biscuit / pancake baking mix

3/4 cup regular milk, cold

4 Tbls or 1/2 stick of cold butter, cubed

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1 heaping cup of grated or shredded cheese

Butter topping mixture:

2 Tbls butter, melted 1/4 tsp dried parsley 1/2 tsp garlic powder

In a medium sized bowl:

Combine biscuit mix with cold butter until just mixed. The butter will be chunky, about pea sized. Add cheddar cheese, milk, and 1/4 tsp garlic. Mix by hand until combined, be sure not to over mix. Drop about 1/4 cup sized portions of the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet using either an ice cream scoop or large tablespoon. I use my hand to round it out.

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes The tops of the biscuits will begin to turn light brown when they are ready.

After taking the biscuits out of the oven; Melt 2 Tablespoons butter in the microwave. Stir in 1/2 tsp garlic powder and parsley. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the tops of all the biscuits.

`As always, I took several recipes and combined them to get the result I wanted. =:o)
`I used my new baking stone for the first time on this recipe.
`For my oven; i needed the full 17 minutes of cooking time.
`This recipe makes 12-14 great sized biscuits
`Be sure and preheat your oven to 400 degrees
`The most popular cheese for this recipe is Cheddar.
I also enjoy using the shredded fancy cheese blend as shown in the above photo.
`Baking mix is a very common item, found in most grocery stores here in the US the most common brand is “Bisquick”
