The Douglas Fir is an evergreen, it has a pyramidal crown that is somewhat open. It’s stems are characteristically straight. The needles are yellow-green to blue-green in color, 3/4 to 1 1/4 inch long, and very fragrant. The needle tips are blunt or slightly rounded. The males flowers are oblong, red to yellow and grow near branch tips. The female flowers are reddish, with long bracts, also occurring near the branch tips. Oregon celebrates Arbor day the first full week in April.
