The Eastern Hemlock is a medium-sized evergreen that has a dense, conical crown and fine branches. This evergreen is also known as a Canadian Hemlock. It grows extremely well in shade, the average height is approximately 60 to 70 feet with a diameter of 2-3 feet. Eastern Hemlocks may live for over 400 years ! The needle of the Eastern Hemlock is the darkest and the shortest of all of the evergreens. Pennsylvania celebrates Arbor day the last Friday in April.
