‘Pinaceae Pinus monticola’

The Western White Pine is known for its form. It is a tall, straight evergreen conifer growing upwards to 180 feet tall and 4 feet around. The top (crown) is open and the branches near the top are raised upwards while the lower branches are horizontal. The male pine cones of the Western White Pine are small & yellow and are clustered near the tips of the branches. The female cones are larger, almost round, greenish-pink in color and are clustered near the tips of the branches higher up in the tree. Idaho celebrates Arbor day the last Friday in April.
