The Red Pine is a medium-sized evergreen. The male Red Pines flowers are almost round, light red in color and appear in large clusters at branch tips. The females form a round, short reddish-brown cone.
On juvenile trees, the bark is flaky red-brown or pink to gray in color. When mature it eventually becomes plated with scaly surfaces. Many consider the Red Pine to be one of the most beautiful Pine Trees. Minnesota celebrates Arbor day the last Friday in April.
