The Sugar Maple is the largest American Maple, fairly fast growing reaching heights of 100 feet tall. The unbelievable fall colors draw tourists from all over the world. The spectacular colors of the Maple range from bright yellows to oranges to fluorescent red – orange. This tree is mostly well known for its sap for use in making syrups but is also grown for shade trees. Since it is one of the hardest Maples it is also used for furniture and flooring. The Sugar Maple is the state tree for New York, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The Maple leaf is featured on the Flag of Canada. New York celebrates Arbor day the last Friday in April.
