The Ohio Buckeye is an upright, medium sized tree, it reaches from 60 to 80 feet tall and can be 2 feet in diameter. The crown bears pendulous up-turning branches. The showy flowers of the Buckeye bloom light yellow, large approximately from 4 to 7 inches, upright clusters. The stamens are longer than petals ! The blooms appear from April to May. Buckeye fruit is rather prickly with a leathery husk enclosing 1 smooth chestnut brown seed. The seed is from 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter and mature in October. Ohio celebrates Arbor day the last Friday in April.
